Treasure of the Sierra Madre, The (1948)Features the original use of the line "Badges? We ain't got no badges! We don't need no badges! I don't have to show you any steenkin' badges!" (#36 on AFI's 100 Greatest Movie Quotes list) and stars Humphrey Bogart (and "B" Western star Tim Holt). John Huston directed his father Walter Huston to a Best Supporting Actor Academy Award, and won the Best Director & Best Writing (Screenplay) Oscars for himself (the first father-son win). The film was also Oscar nominated. Bogart, Holt, and Huston play three men working together to find gold "in them thar" hills. Once they find it, however, mistrust and greed consume them. Added to the National Film Registry in 1990. #30 on AFI's 100 Greatest Movies list. #67 on AFI's 100 Most Heart-Pounding Movies list. |
