Father of the Bride (1950)

A fun, funny family film with Spencer Tracy and Joan Bennett as the parents of bride-to-be Elizabeth Taylor with scenes most fathers wouldn't want repeated in their lives with their daughters. It was nominated for a Best Picture Oscar; Tracy also received a (Best Actor) nomination as did Frances Goodrich & Albert Hackett (The Thin Man (1934)) for their Screenplay, which was based on Edward Streeter's novel. Also appearing in this Vincent Minnelli directed film are Don Taylor as the groom and Billie Burke & Moroni Olsen as his parents, Leo G. Carroll, and Russ Tamblyn, as the bride's little brother. It NEVER needed to be remade, let alone redone SO badly. #83 on AFI's 100 Funniest Movies list.
