All About Eve (1950)

Bette Davis' famous line "Fasten your seat belts, it's going to be a bumpy night!" (#9 on AFI's 100 Greatest Movie Quotes list) is just one reason this film about ambition & ruthlessness is remembered. Another is the fact that this Best Picture Oscar winner was the second to receive five acting nominations, though only George Sanders won (Supporting Actor). The others nominated in this outstanding cast included Anne Baxter & Ms. Davis for Best Actress, Celeste Holm & Thelma Ritter for Supporting Actress. Best Director Joseph Mankiewicz also took home the Screenplay Writing Oscar. Added to the National Film Registry in 1990. #16 on AFI's 100 Greatest Movies list; Baxter's title character, the ambitious newbie actress who works her way into Davis's life pretending to be her #1 fan in order to steal her role(s) and effectively replace her, is AFI's #23 villain.
