Schindler's List (1993)Haunting, awesome (I guess this Spielberg kid can direct) real story about the Holocaust. The first B&W (black & white) film to win the Best Picture Oscar since 1960. Liam Neeson's title character is AFI's #13 hero; Ralph Fiennes' Amon Goeth is AFI's #15 villain - both were nominated for Oscars. Director Steven Spielberg finally broke his Oscar jinx winning Best Director honors; the film also won for Screenplay Writing, and received four other Oscars. #9 on AFI's 100 Greatest Movies list. #3 on AFI's 100 Most Inspiring Movies list. Added to the National Film Registry in 2004. |
