The English Patient (1996)

I rented & watched this the day after I saw Gandhi (1982), liked the other film better ('nuff said?). I think Seinfeld got this one right when he parodied it in his episode of the same name. A story about a horribly burned pilot, the nurse who tends to his wounds, love but primarily adultery, during the war ... warms your heart, doesn't it? NINE Oscars (like Gigi (1958)) including for Supporting Actress Juliette Binoche & Director Anthony Minghella (whose Screenplay Writing was also nominated). Kristin Scott Thomas and Ralph Fiennes were nominated for their leading roles. Can you say "weak year"?
