Neil Simon's Oscar nominated story about a struggling actor (Richard Dreyfuss) who's rented an apartment from a man that left his girlfriend dancer (Marsha Mason) and her daughter (Quinn Cummings) behind in it, with predictable yet funny & entertaining results. Dreyfuss was the youngest actor ever to win the Best Actor Oscar, at that time; Mason, Cummings, and the film itself also received Oscar nominations. Directed by Herbert Ross, who's other picture that year (The Turning Point (1977), which he co-produced) also competed, along with Star Wars (1977), and lost to Woody Allen's Oscar winning Best Picture Annie Hall (1977).
