Killing The (1956)

Killing The (1956)

This excellent early film by director Stanley Kubrick is a thrilling crime drama. Kubrick also wrote the screenplay adapting a Lionel White novel (with additional dialogue from Jim Thompson). A team of specialists led by Sterling Hayden as Johnny Clay plots a daring racetrack robbery. Coleen Gray plays Clay’s girlfriend Fay Marie Windsor as one of the gang member’s (another nervous character by Elisha Cook Jr.) wife whose affair with a tough guy (Vince Edwards) that wants in on the deal may lead to its undoing and Jay Flippen (among others) are also featured. Don’t let the fact that this one was ignored by the Academy dissuade you from seeing it!
