The Silence of the Lambs (1991)

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again this may be the last great movie from Hollywood. It IS the last (3rd overall) to win the top five awards from the Academy (Best Picture Best Director – Jonathon Demme on his only nomination to date Actor Actress and Screenplay Writing). Released in February (before the 1990 AA’s) it is the only film to be released on video before it won Best Picture. Beauty and the Beast (1991) is the first of only two animated films to be BP nominated. #65 on AFI’s 100 Greatest Movies list. #5 on AFI’s 100 Most Heart-Pounding Movies list. Best Actor Anthony Hopkins’ Hannibal Lecter is AFI’s #1 villain. Best Actress Jody Foster’s Clarice Starling is AFI’s #6 hero. “A census taker once tried to test me. I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice Chianti.” is #21 on AFI’s 100 Greatest Movie Quotes list. Added to the National Film Registry in 2011.
