A classic film which tells the story of a veteran (Humphrey Bogart) now seaman that is forced into a situation in which he must decide whether to get involved by helping the owner of a Florida inn (Lionel Barrymore) & his daughter (Lauren Bacall) when their place is used by a gangster (Edward G. Robinson) hanging out during a hurricane! Claire Trevor won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her portrayal as the gang’s somewhat unwilling moll. Thomas Gomez plays one of the gang members. Directed by John Huston and based on the Maxwell Anderson (All Quiet on the Western Front (1930)) play; Huston co-wrote the screenplay with Richard Brooks. Bogart’s last on-screen role with wife Bacall and his last of a handful of pairings with Robinson.
