Kitty Foyle (1940)
Kitty Foyle (1940)
Ginger Rogers’ Oscar winning performance (on her only nomination) of a "modern" working woman one who falls for a wealthy man (Dennis Morgan) from the "other side of the tracks" whose family isn’t too keen on the idea. His mother is played by Gladys Cooper. It’s really a much longer story than all that following Kitty through her humble beginnings at age 15 to a "grown-up" woman of 26 mostly told in flashback. James Craig and Eduardo Ciannelli also appear. The film its director (Sam Wood) Screenplay & Sound also received Oscar nominations.
