Aliens (1986)

A very entertaining horror film and proof that a sequel can be better than the original. Sigourney Weaver (nominated for a Best Actress Academy Award) is back as Ripley conned (by Paul Reiser) into participating in a military mission ostensibly to destroy an alien (monster) colony that has taken over an outpost on a remote planet killing or using all of its human occupants as wombs to incubate its embryos. Great action in this futuristic war movie. Michael Biehn Lance Henriksen and Bill Paxton also appear as members of the team. Directed by James Cameron it’s easily the best of the four movies in the series (six if you count the two "vs. Predator" sequels) winning Oscars for Best Sound Effects & Best Visual Effects; it was also nominated for Editing Musical Score Sound and Art Direction-Set Decoration. Weaver’s Ripley is AFI’s #8 hero the Alien itself is AFI’s #14 villain.
