Lost Horizon (1937)

You won’t be disappointed when you watch this Frank Capra fantasy film (from James Hilton’s novel) starring Ronald Colman; Jane Wyatt and Edward Everett Horton are also featured. It was nominated for seven Oscars including Best Picture and won for Art Direction and Editing. H. B. Warner received his only nomination (Supporting) though you’ll want to find Sam Jaffe in this one.

Diplomat Colman’s plane crashes in the mountains where he and the other passengers are rescued by citizens of a mysterious land the idyllic “Shangri La”. It’s a secluded place cut off from the rest of the world where war is brewing. Jaffe is the High Lama in this “utopia”. But all is not as perfect as it seems …
