Knute Rockne All American (1940)

A biography of the legendary Notre Dame football coach, played by Pat O'Brien, which features Ronald Reagan (in practically a cameo) as George Gipp aka "the Gipper", a fated player on his team. Donald Crisp and Albert Bassermann play Fathers; Gale Page plays the title character's wife; Henry O'Neill plays the coach's doctor, John Qualen his father; John Litel also provides support. Football Hall of Famers ‘Pop’ Warner and Amos Alonzo Stagg also appear as themselves. Cliff Clark, Harry Hayden, Dickie Jones, Brian Keith, George Reeves, and Charles Trowbridge, among others, appear uncredited. Directed by Lloyd Bacon and scripted by Robert Buckner, it was added to the National Film Registry in 1997. Reagan's immortalized line "Tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Gipper." is #89 on AFI's 100 Greatest Movie Quotes list.
