Directed by Terence Young (Dr. No (1962), Thunderball (1965)) with a screenplay and adaptation by Richard Maibaum and Johanna Harwood (respectively), this is the second James Bond, Agent 007 (AFI's #3 hero) film; the character and novel are from Ian Fleming. Starring Sean Connery, it’s the first to feature gadget man ‘Q’ aka Major Boothroyd (Desmond Llewelyn) and is noteworthy for its villains: Rosa Klebb (Lotte Lenya), the poisoned toe kicking Russian Colonel (defector to SPECTRE), and Robert Shaw as the assassin Red Grant/Captain Nash.
