Splendor in the Grass (1961)

Splendor in the Grass (1961)

Though you’re sure to get annoyed at Natalie Wood’s endless crying “Bud Buddy Buuuuuudddddd!” (played by Warren Beatty) she did receive an Academy Award Best Actress nomination for her performance as a sexually repressed young lady in a small town and the story did win William Inge an Oscar for his screenplay. Pat Hingle plays Beatty’s father. Sandy Dennis Gary Lockwood and Phyllis Diller also appear in this Elia Kazan directed film. #47 on AFI’s 100 Greatest Love Stories list.
